Soooo long!

Well hello everyone,

It has literally been forever since I have posted a blog but a lot of exciting things have gone on! So here we go...

First of all the rest of my time in Maine was excellent, I really enjoyed all of the amazing people I got the chance to meet. I have thankfully made some great life long friends that I am missing very much at the moment. Durning my last week in Maine I took a trip to New York City to interview at Hearst. I was hesitant because it is another internship but it would be so worth it! A week after going to the interview I heard that I had got the internship! (Which is why I am in nyc now but we will get there) I debated for a bit about what to do, after talking to many people I wrote back that I gladly accepted the internship and would be there in 2 week.

Now it was crunch time, I had to move home from Maine, pack, move to New York and get settled in... in 2 week!

My 2 weeks at home were fantastic. I got to see all of my friends and was able to see one of my best friends, who has always been like a sister to me, get married! It was so fantastic to see her SO happy. I got to spend my last night with all of the people that meant so much to me. It was a fantastic experience and I wish Alayna and Kyle endless happiness!

So here I sit, two weeks and one day later in Manhattan blogging. Yesterday was my first day at Hearst. I can't say it was how I expected it to be but it was pretty amazing. I expected intimidating, Devil Wears Prada like coworkers. That was NOT the case at all. Everyone was so nice so far and it seems like such a great place to work. The photographers there are so kind and I am so happy I get to work with such great people!

Now on to some photographs after the very brief recap of my new life. In those two weeks I was home I got to photograph a beautiful women named Amanda. She was so great to be around and had and AWESOME personality that I LOVED! I finally got to somewhat edit them today so I figured I would post them since it has been almost 2 weeks since I photographed her. Thank you so much Amanda for getting in contact with me, you are amazing and I loved getting to work with you. I hope you like the images!

Here are some of my faves...

Vanessa & Casey

This weekend on August 8th I was honored to have shot the wedding of Vanessa and Casey. It was in fact my first solo wedding ever and it surprisingly went very smoothly. I can't say nothing went wrong but nothing went wrong anyone other than my assistant and I knew about. Sadly one thing that did happen was...my new 5d m2 broke. It was heartbreaking but it is getting sent back to be fixed very soon. Thankfully I was super crazy and brought 4 cameras along so we had an extra. My friend Amber was my assistant and she did really well for her first time shooting a wedding also. We worked well together and we made a game plan prior and pretty much stuck to it.

Vanessa and Casey are both beautiful people so getting images of them was no hard task. They have such great families that welcomed us into their lives on one of the most amazing days for them. It was much more rewarding then I would have ever thought it could be. During the ceremony when a tear fell from Vanessa's face I was probably one of the only people who could see it other than her new husband and her closest friends and family. To be a part of that is so remarkable. I wish Vanessa and Casey endless happiness and an amazing future together. They are truly a beautiful couple and I hope they enjoyed their day as much as I enjoyed mine.

The wedding was at Casey's parents house and they had amazing gardens and a beautiful house. The wedding was so bright and colorful, it was a perfect summer wedding.

Here are some of the images I have had a chance to process..

Vanessa had asked me to set up a photo booth and it was harder than expected. With a little bit of practice though we got it down. Thank you both for such an amazing day!

Inspiration...

Hey everyone,

So things have been interesting lately... this weekend I shot my first solo wedding. It was a blast! Thankfully I had Amber there to help me make it through alive. Vanessa and Casey are such an amazing couple and so fun to be around. I am in the process of editing the images and will have them up soon!

Sunday I photographed Hannah, who I knew from middle school. She is gorgeous and made a fantastic model. I just needed to do a shoot to get inspired! This was totally what I needed, it was fantastic to just be shooting. I was going for a bohemian look and I don't know if I totally accomplished that but I like what I got from the shoot... here are my favorites!

This week Jason and I have GREGORY HEISLER in the studio :) it is so great to have him back in our lives. He is so amazing and he brought his equally amazing daughters with him and his girlfriend. It is going to be a great week with them. Also we had a little surprise from DAVID TURNER today. It is like a total hallmark reunion up here in the lovely town of Rockport, ME.

Wedding images and updates on the week to come :)

The Betters Family...again

Hey everyone.

So I have been working on a lot of things lately but this weekend I got to photograph the adorable Betters Boys again. They are so adorable and super cooperative, it really makes the shoot fun. I took them to the same location we had shot their family shoot in and found a great spot of open shade. I didn't have an assistant but the lighting was great so I had no fear that I wouldn't have good catch lights or I wouldn't have someone to be my "child wrangler". Thank you Jill for being so helpful!

Here are some of my favorite images of the boys :) Thank you Betters Family!

Check it out!

In May I worked with an amazing wedding planner out of Newport RI. Her business is called Couture Parties which is run by the wonderful Stephanie Frazier Grimm. She is fantastic, you should really check out her website and keep her in mind if you ever are looking for an event planner...

Anyways, where is this going you ask...

Recently Stephanie and I were featured on a blog together for the images I took when I spent a day with her in Newport. Check it out :)

Here are some other images from the day.

Here is the wonderful planner herself, Stephanie!

Wiping the dust off my camera...

So this weekend I was graced with the presence of Amber! She is one of my best friends and is the only one from Ma to make the journey to Maine to see me. (Boo to the rest of you) This weekend I finally dusted off my camera and shot. I tried to just act like any other Maine tourist and just shoot without coming up with excuses on why I couldn't. I can't say I have aquired any award winning photographs this weekend, or even photographs that I am in love with but I did have a great weekend with Amber and it was good to hold my beautiful black 5d Mark II in my hands :)

The weekend started off with showing Amber around Rockland, Rockport and Camden. After that we went on a search to find lighthouses. After driving in circles and entering the same state park numerous times we decided it was time to google where on earth we could find a light house. We pulled into Owls Head Light State Park and were thrilled to find a sign pointing to a light house! We made a little trek through the woods and came out in a little clearing where we found a beautiful white light house sitting on top of a little hill. We explored for awhile then attempted to head back into town.

Pretty little post office backyard

After a 45 min long journey (that was only suppose to take 10 min) we made it back into Rockland. Amber and I headed down to the harbor to see the world largest lobster and to sit by the dock.

Largest Lobster!
It was an AMAZING day weather wise. Thankfully Amber brought the heat with her :) after a long day we headed back to Jason's to nap and get ready to go out to dinner...

Sunday morning came and Amber and I were on another hut to find a lighthouse. First though we went in search of wild Maine blueberries! We pulled into a bumpy dirt road and parked Jane (my Jetta) on the side. We assumed we would walk for a few minutes and end up in a field full of blueberries. We did end up in a field full of blueberries but not without walking a mile or two to get there.

We failed to bring a container with us so the Quakes bag we had in the car came in good use!

After the trek down the hill we made it back to the car and on our way to lighthouse numero 2. Again it was like a mile long walk to the lighthouse but it was so worth it with the amazing amount of sailboats that were around.

Sadly I had to head to work after finding this lighthouse so our day was over but it was a really relaxing yet exciting weekend.

We now have matching boat shoes!

This week Jason and I have Joyce Tenneson in the studio. She is already fantastic and it looks to be like we will be having a great week with her :) I will blog our wonderful experience next week!!
